Laphroaig Quarter Cask

Laphroaig Quarter Cask Taste Profile
Stats – 48% alcohol, double cask matured, non-chill filtered, Islay
Price – $60
Color – Amber
Nose – Strong peat smoke and ash, almost like a firepit, and some oak
Palate – This almost tastes like a very smoky bourbon with richness and sweetness with good peat and Islay character.  The start is malty and sweet with some cereal grains and spice.  The midbody has some cherry fruitiness, like a bourbon, also a hint of bitter citrus rind and the spice persists.  The finish has a grassy and oaky quality that is complimented well by some light peat smoke.  Some medicinal astringency lingers behind the finish.
