Stats – 40% alcohol, aged 8 years, from Jim Beam, KY
Price – $42
Color – Light maple
Nose – Dry but spicy
Palate – From the Jim Beam small batch bourbon family that also includes Booker’s and Knob Creek. This one is light up front but brings in some rye spices like cardamom and cinnamon. There is also some good bourbon fruitiness, like cherries but also some mandarin oranges and crisp apples. The sweetness is closer to honey than caramel, there’s a faint hint of fresh lavender. A bit of bite at the back end, not not a bad choice for those looking for a tamer high-rye sipping bourbon.
